Can Anybody Hear Me?

Well, originally I dreamed of a major blogfest GRAND OPENING of the blog. Then I decided....why not grow with us? To start off, my name is Becki. I am Mom #1 of the three Moms. We will each reveal ourselves and our stories. But if you would like to cheat, go here. If you cheat and read my story, you will see that my children are biological. I do not have any adopted children, but I do have some sweet pumpkins in my family that are, but that is their story. And I will let them tell you about it. But my life has been blessed too many times to count by adoption. My best friend from highschool placed a baby for adoption, a sibling has adopted, and at one point, my husband and I were in the process.

So why am I involved? Because I am an attorney/aunt/friend who has been touched and cursed by the adoption process in Oklahoma. And I am going to be darned if I can't change it. So I am going to try. And you my friends are going to help. I have written a law that I hope to get the support of an Oklahoma Legislator, and see if he will present the bill in November session. (at least I think that is when it is, I am learning) - Anyway - please post this blog on your blog, follow the blog and if you can, do the things we ask. We will be asking you to do things like write your legislator, e-mail the governor, talk to your agency for support, and post our posts on your blog to get the word out. I promise, it sounds hard, but we will make it easy for you, we will even provide the links for you to directly find your specific legislator. This needs to touch everyone in Oklahoma who cares about the adoption process.....pass it on...so like I said, CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME???? Please comment!

Oh yeah, sneak peek at the legislation? All I will say is that we are trying to get Oklahoma to do what EVERY surrounding state does.....relinquish in the hospital....come back for more!

I am a friend of Kim and Kathy's and was looking at Kim's blog and decided to read your blog which led me here! We have adopted both our children through CPO and even though we have not experienced an interupted adoption, we very well could have. I think you are doing an AMAZING thing and I support this 150%!!! I will post this on my blog and spread the word! (I met you briefly at the shower at your parents beautiful home!)
GOD BLESS!

By the way, I personally know an Oklahoma Rep. I could connect you if you think that will help. I am sure the more help you get the better right?

Woo hoo! One thing I hope to pass on to my children, that our parents taught us, was to STAND UP for what you believe in! I love you sweet sisters! I love how you are using your passion, your hearts desire to help both birth moms and adoptive families, and your "smarts" to make a difference. Praying God's blessings on this.....and His hand in it!

You go girls! nothing like a momma to take care of business!

seriously, I am so excited to watch and see the great things come from this. You have all of my support even though I don't live in OK.

God has given you many gifts and talents and it is a blessing to us all to see you use them in such a way. I look forward to the future and let me know of anything I can do to help.

BIG HUGS!

Please let me know what I can do and need to do to make this a better process in Oklahoma. This has been one of my greatest fears when I think of adopting locally, that is one main reason we went international. Wyatt wants a sibling( okay at this point it is his parents that want a sibling), and I am not sure what God has planned for us, and our family in the way of local, domestic, international, opened, closed but this law needs our help, and I will be glad to assist anyway I can.

Yes, I hear you loud and clear and I second the motion. It is about time that things change. I, too, have an adopted child and had to wait the 2 weeks to get a court date. I have also gone to the court and faced the judge while he questioned a Birth Mother over and over again. It was heart wrenching and I wasn't the one placing my baby.
Oh and if you think about it could use also change the fact that our bi-racial children have to choose what race they are. My child is not one race but three and it would be nice to acknowledge all three and not just one!

I am sorry... There are to many lies and deceite in adoption already so why don't you get all the really bad part of the laws lin adoption cleared up before you start messing with laws that are put there to pertect the children that are placed. That law of not having the mother sign the surrender papers in the hospital are there to protect the adoption industry. There is to much corruption and deceipt there already... Why don't you give us adoptees our rights first. Thanks..
